With an annual budget of one million dollars the state has the capacity to fund research projects but each center should be able to provide a partner from the private sector willing to match what the state released. Acting as a cosponsor a venture capital organization arranged a conference that focused on dentistry, surgery, and drugs. A lot of different corporations from venture groups to companies for pharmaceuticals and biotechnics joined the conference with total participating companies amounting to about 50. It was important for the university to explain the kind of dental research they are conducting on school grounds including the overall goal they wish to achieve for the program.

At first they had an idea of which companies will truly be interested in their dental products and this list grew longer and longer.
