A young children's item called Pillow Pets have been one of the best selling children products for 2009 and thus far in 2010. In fact so many moms and dads bought them as Christmas presents for their kids this past year, it was sold out in lots of retailers and online as well.
What really makes these toys so unique At first look , it seems just like any normal cute stuffed toy to parents. However, the special thing about Pillow Pets is that they are able to pop open into pillows that children can use to rest or sleep on. This is why the toy is named a Pillow Pet.
This is done with Velcro straps. Whenever you undo the Velcro strap, the Pillow Pet will automatically pop open and turn into a pillow. To turn it back into a soft toy again, you just reconnect the Velcro belt.
Through this twin purpose and a commercial using a memorable song, countless children have asked their parents for one. I've heard of the many parents becoming annoyed because their kids were singing the Pillow Pets song that goes, "It's a pillow. It's a pet. It's a Pillow Pet." too many time.
A mother of two kids in San Diego, California was the original inventor of the Pillow Pets. The main reason was that she was tired of her young children leaving their stuffed animals all over their rooms and the house. So she was determined she was making a stuffed animal which was also a useful item. Later on she came up with the concept it will be a pillow.
As a result, she ended up making a millionaire dollar industry and Pillow Pets are being sold in merchants on a national scale. The initial product line only had six different animals but it has now expanded to over thirty different Pillow Pets. Additionally, complementary products such as backpacks, blankets, slippers and also books were created because of the success.
Pillow Pets can be purchased in two different dimensions. The large sized ones are 18 inches long while the little ones are 11 inches. The big Pillow Pets typically sell for about $20 but the rare ones that are often sold out have gone for a lot more on auction sites like eBay.
