Many don't want to accept as true it, tax debt relief from the IRS is doable and available . It takes effort and at it time may be a bit irritating, however,, it is attainable.. There are existing laws and regulations that were approved for these cases specifically.

The first thing that you should be aware of is that the earlier you determine that you can't pay you tax debt and the faster you get in touch with the IRS to talk about your circumstances the better. If you owe money you should not stop filing your taxes.

Be in debt to the IRS can be costly because of interest and penalties, not filing can generate other serious problems, even criminal charges of evasion. So its recommended that you always file you taxes even if you can not pay them. The IRS will treat you completely different if you file and clarify that you cannot pay, then if they catch you for not filing.

If you file your return and cannot pay, after a short period of time you should make contact with them and explain your specific situation and why you cannot pay. Unemployment, Illness, Disability, Economic hardship and others are all motives that the IRS will contemplate and work with you. If you are in a position to pay your taxes over a period of time or installments by filing form 9465, installment Agreement Request.. This does not signify that you cannot change the agreement later if the circumstances changes radically You simply call the IRS and explain what is happening.

Even though some may not believe it is always a good idea to speak to the IRS. Preferably a telephone call followed up by a letter confirming what your discussion covered. Regardless many feel uneasiness about calling the IRS and that doing so may make the circumstances worse. Many also feel that the IRS is not easy to talk to and will not assist them. Based on my communication with them I find this not to be factual. They are easy to talk to you and will assist you in exploring the tax debt relief choices. Don’t let these unfounded fears stop you from contacting them.

On more complex tax issues it is recommended to get expert advice from either a CPA, Tax attorney or enrolled agent based the complexities of your circumstances. Taxes are very complex and so are tax laws. If you have been receiving constant correspondence from the IRS and do not know how to deal with the circumstances an expert can help you look for options. Straightforward matters can be settled on one’s own through communication with IRS.

Tax debt relief is available and you should set aside the preconceived notions you have about the IRS and communicate with them as fast as possible. It is not suggested you stop filing or disregard them, this will only complicate your situation.
