Your Sun Twin, Sun Heat, Edenpure, and Heat Smart portable heaters are pretty comparable. They utilize around ten cents an hour in electricity. This is just while they are on. All of them use thermostats that control the heat. We may argue over what heater was designed first, which one is a clone of the other one. Not a bit of that matters. They every one use the same amount of electricity, give off the same amount of heat, are manufactured out of the USA, and are all priced at about $399.
Each of these heaters employ similar heating tubes. Some call them "quartz tubes" but they're essentially infrared light bulbs that give off light and a considerable amount of heat.
Their claims in a few of the advertisements are exaggerated. The advertisements at times declare that the heater may heat "up to 1,000 square feet". How would they know? How elevated is the ceiling? What category of insulation do you use? How many home windows? How chilly is it out?
My know-how with these heaters (we offer most of them in our small retail business in Wooster Ohio) is that they will heat up approximately 800 square feet or maybe a tiny bit more, if the conditions are perfect.
Uninsulated basements will suck the heat out of the room. These heaters will not heat up an uninsulated basement. Garages that are not tightly insulated will not be warmed up well by these heaters. Several rooms will not be heated successfully. at one instance
These limitations have very little to do with the superiority or effectiveness of the heaters, and lots to do with the manner heat by itself works. Heat raises in the air. A fan can stir the warmed up air in the room, even a large room. However heat will not travel down hallways, and around corners well. These heaters are for the main living areas which might be properly insulated.
The two heaters that are a little bit uncommon are the Solar Comfort heaters along with the Riccar heater.
The Solar Comfort heater works a similar way as the others, but it makes use of four, easily replaceable heat lamps that are 375 watts each one. The Solar Comfort heater has the benefit of a HEPA filtration system on the air intake. The Solar comfort heater also offers a 15 pound heat exchanger that stores and releases heat. This makes the Solar Comfort heater weigh about 45 pounds instead of the 30 pounds of the other heaters. The principle drawback of the Solar Comfort heater is that the heat lamps must be installed once you open the box. It won't arrive assembled. The Solar Comfort heater mostly sells for $495.
Your Riccar Summer Breeze heater really is the lone heater like this manufactured in the USA at the Riccar manufacturing facility in St. James Missouri. The Riccar heater is distinctive in a number of ways. The warmth is produced by a steel heating coil that carries a 10 year factory warrant. The other heaters all carry a three year warranty.
The port the heat comes out in the front of the heater is unique. It is distorted downhill that will allow for the heat to make contact with parts of the floor, before the heat rises.
The shielding slats in the front of the heater are insulated to ensure you are not able to get burned by touching any part of the heater. The warranty on the rest of the heater is five years, and the Summer Breeze requires no assembly.
Make sure to purchase your heater from a dealer that is able to honor the manufacturer's warranty.
