Bulking up the Right Way

Obesity is a real problem in America. Not only are there more and more people each year that are officially obese, but a large amount of those people are children and teenagers. Yet, over shadowed by this epidemic of being overweight are problems of those who are just too thin. While many people in the country would gladly trade places with these chronically small, that doesn’t mean that their problem isn’t just as bad for their own self-confidence and self-image. Especially for males who are undersized. In human development many times men will link their manhood to the size of their frame. Those men who are of a smaller size don’t feel as if they are masculine enough.
There are many ways in which a person that is constantly small can bulk up his frame. The problem is that many of the methods have terrible side effects. What you don’t want to do is to add bulk to your body through methods that will hurt your overall health, or by using methods that simply add water mass to your frame. The problem with water mass is that it is difficult to maintain, and many times after you have stopped working out water mass will promote fat gain. So you would start out being thin and weak, and end up being fat and weak.
The solution is to add layer after layer of hard lean muscle to your frame. This is accomplished through dieting and exercise. First it is important to start to do resistance based training. Resistance based training will help you to tear the muscle fibers that you currently have in your body, and will provide you body with new opportunity to create new muscles. For putting on mass it is good to do higher weight and fewer reps. This will help your body not to string out the muscle mass, which will help when your body is training for endurance. The fewer reps at higher weight will build muscles with high explosive capabilities.
Diet is also important. If you are trying to add bulk you want to up the number of calories that you are eating each day. You want to do this in a smart fashion. There are many weight gain supplements that give you large amounts of calories, but they are empty calories that your body doesn’t really process for your benefit. It is better to get more calories through your daily diet. You should eat many small meals throughout the day that are high in nutrients. It is also important to increase the amount of protein that you have in your diet. Protein is what your body uses to create new muscle. A person that is actively training and trying to add muscle should try to consume half their body weight in grams of protein a day. This will provide your body with enough protein to be actively creating muscle. The best way to add protein to your diet is by taking a whey protein supplement. Whey protein is easy for your body to metabolize. That means that your body will quickly have a reservoir of protein to draw from, and will create more muscle and more mass.
It seems the world is obsessed with getting smaller, but there are people out there who wish that they could add bulk. For those people who are looking to add weight remember to do so in a safe and efficient manner. Add bulk through smart dieting and through smart weight training.
