Iron Chef is a most innovative cooking competition that was produced by Fuji TV in Japan. The Chairman of this cooking competition Takeshi Kaga hosted the show in a most flamboyant style. Iron chef was a cooking game show where the best professional cooks battled with each other. The competitor chef would battle against the resident Iron chef. They would have to prepare minimum 5 dishes in an hour from the secret ingredient which would be disclosed to them just before the start of the competition.
Well you can imagine the kind of battle that would be fought cooking the winning dish. The cooking battle would take place in the Kitchen stadium and the Chairman would announce the start of the competition using the words Allez cuisine which in French means “Go Kitchen”. This Iron chef series that ran 300 episodes which finally concluded in the year September 24, 1999, saw some of the best of best Iron chef competitors.
Some of these Competitors are mentioned below who left their mark during the show and are still remembered. They are:-
1.Bobby Flay: He is now an Iron chef in “Iron Chef America” which is a copy version of Japanese “Iron chef” cooking competition. Bobby flay competed against Marimoto in Iron Chef Japanese show’s special New York Battle. Where Marimoto won and Flay was offered a rematch.
2.Toshiro Kandagawa: He has had three wins out the six battles.
3.Kyoko Kagata: The first female chef and the youngest chef who was victorious. She challenged the resident iron chef Chen Kenichi.
4.Michael Nobel: He was the First Canadian to appear in the Iron Chef Japanese cooking competition. He played against the resident chef Marimoto in battle Potato in year 1999 and lost.
5.Cheng Kazuhiko: He was the Fist challenger to defeat the resident Iron chef. The theme ingredient for that competition was octopus.
6.Dominique Corby: He was the only competitor who tied with the Iron chef Chen Kenichi twice, once initially and again in the overtime battle.
They were declared joint winners of that battle. A six year long episode of “Iron Chef” aired by Fuji TV brought in the best of competitors to challenge their resident Iron chef. The Iron chef competitors are many who came did their best and left their mark in the episode of Iron chef.
