Helping a PR Freelancer Settle in with your Team

A lot of PR freelancers are used to working with a range of companies and so know what to expect, but even if you have hired the most experienced freelancer around, it definitely makes sense to make sure they settle in well with your team. This will help to create a healthier, friendlier dynamic, and if your PR freelancers feel happy with what they're doing, their work is likely to be better, too. Read on to find out more.

Give them a tour
It might sound obvious, but one simple way to help your new recruits from the PR recruitment agencies settle in is to give them a tour of the office. First days can be daunting, and they can be made more daunting if freelancers don't know where anything is. Make sure they know their way around the office and know where all of the important things are. For instance, remember to show them where the kitchen, toilets, stationery cupboards and other supplies are. This will help them settle in much quicker as they won't have to ask so many questions.

Arrange a briefing
Arranging a briefing for your new PR freelancers is also a good idea. Make sure the rest of the people they'll be working with are there, at least for an introduction, so they know who everyone is and what everyone's role is. This can help people to feel more secure in their own role. It can also be a good idea to have a one-on-one briefing with them as well as a group meeting, to make sure they know what their specific job is and that everything is very clear.

Opportunities for questions
PR freelancers are generally very experienced and, as they are used to working with a range of companies – often in different industries – they tend to be able to pick things up quickly. However, as PR recruitment agencies will tell you, every role is slightly different. Make sure your freelancers are given plenty of opportunities to ask questions and that someone is always available in case they have a query. This is especially important if they are working in an industry they're not yet used to so they can become more confident and produce better work as a result.

Welcome event
Coming and going as a freelancer can make it hard to make lasting relationships with colleagues, so having some sort of welcome event for them could also be a good idea. For instance, a simple lunch event or small drinks gathering at the end of the day where they can get to know their new colleagues on a social level – and you can get to know them – could be just the thing they need to settle in properly.

Point of contact
Finally, it's a good idea to make sure your PR freelancers have a point of contact that they can speak to if they have any problems. Of course, they will be able to contact their PR recruitment agencies if they need to, but giving them a mentor in the company can also be beneficial. This can allow them to acquire more knowledge about your company, leading to better work, and their current knowledge could also benefit you so it's definitely something worth considering.
Author Resource:- If you are thinking of using PR freelancers it can be helpful to contact one of the PR recruitment agencies in London or around the country. They will be able to help you fill your vacancies short-term or long-term.
