Is the depletion of the earth's ozone layer really related to the cause of global warming? Is there really anything to the global warming scare? If there is, then how do you explain the weather this winter? Our whole country has been hit time after time this winter season with cold and snowfall in places that usually do not get much snowfall, if any. For example, the colder weather reaching all the way down to Florida has been said to be killing off the coral reefs.
Actually, this winter season's unusually cold weather and record snowfalls are directly related to the earth's temperature rising. For example, the warmer the weather, the warmer the air, the more water vapor the warm air holds, increasing the evaporation from our land and seas. So, we've had some really warm weather, and that warm weather caused a lot of water evaporation. Well, like that old saying, What goes up must come down. So, water evaporates into the air, winter arrives, it starts getting really cold, and down comes that evaporated water. In the form of snow. Snow. Snow. And more snow.
The earth's ozone layer is supposed to block the harmful ultraviolet radiation emmitted by the Sun. So, with the huge hole in the ozone layer over Antartica, more ultraviolet radiation is allowed into the earth's atmosphere. Coming into our atmosphere, the radiation mingles with the problems caused by the greenhouse effect. Basically, greenhouse gases act like a net, catching the radiation waves, keeping them inside the earth's atmosphere instead of them being released back into space. So all of the extra heat that should be released from earth, stays here, keeping the earth warmer than it should be. Now, the warmer the earth, the warmer the air, the more water evaporation that goes up, the more precipitation that comes down in different forms. For example, more snowfall and stronger hurricanes.
Our ecological balance is completely out of whack, resulting in our environmental problems causing havok in our weather and environment. The depletion of the ozone layer or as some call it, the "hole" in the ozone layer, is related to the greenhouse effect, which in turn is related to global warming. All of these things play a factor in our crazy weather patterns and powerful storms. Some other effects of the depletion of the ozone layer include drought, skin cancers, and the rise in the sea level.
