Lock and key are great companions of each other since the lock and key system invented. Without lock, a key have no value and similarly without key, a lock is useless. It is not hard to realize the importance of lock and key because every vehicle and building has some sort of lock and key system. In market there are various kinds of locks are available. If you are re-designing your current house or buying a new house then you will easily get confused in choosing the best type of lock for you. Following are some types of locks that help you in choosing a right lock for you. It is a most common type of door lock. Dead bolt locks are comparatively stronger and efficient then any other types of conventional door lock. Other door locks are not very strong and such locks easily break and they are not strong enough to secure your house. So, this is where dead bolt locks helps you. Basically dead bolt lock has a very simple mechanism to lock a door. This type of locks consists of one or more than one cylinder; these cylinders are attached to a latching device.

Dead bolt locks are force and pressure resistant and it will only open when a particular key or right combination is inserted in it. Many types of dead bolt locks are available. Some dead bolt lock has one cylinder while some have two or even more. Back doors and front doors use different dead bolt locks. A dead bolt lock with single cylinder is appropriate for an average door. But if you want more comprehensive security then use two cylindrical dead bolt lock. Mortise locks are not very common as conventional or dead bolt locks. These types of locks are installed in a pocket on the door, due to this mortise or pocket it is known as Mortise lock. A mortise lock is installed in a door which is more than 2 inches thick. The biggest advantage of mortise lock is that you can easily lock the door from both sides by using a mortise lock. This lock can be opened with a latch from inside and you can open this lock with the help of key from outside.

Mortise locks are available in different sizes. These locks are also looks very good because of its antique look. You can call any local locksmith in order to install a mortise lock. It is the latest type of lock that provides you more security than any other lock. Actually these locks provide you the level security that normal locks cannot reach. To open an electronic lock you may require a password or a security token, it actually depends on the type of electronic lock you are using. Typically there are three types of electronic locks are available. First type of electronic lock uses a keypad with lot of numbers or characters on it. Second type of electronic lock requires a security token to open it while the third type of electronic lock use biometrics as a key. Electronic locks are more expensive as compare with common locks but they provide more security to you and your house.
