Texas Considers Lifting Restrictions on Alcohol Laws

State Representative Ana Hernandez asserts that lifting the Blue Laws would lead to an increase of $5-8 million in tax revenue. Voters who support the measure like the convenience of having the ability to buy alcohol any day of the week. Also, they appreciate the fact that if the necessity to buy their beer for the Texans or Cowboys game is overlooked on Saturday, they won't must miss kickoff as they wait for 12:00 pm to arrive on Sunday.

Texas Governor Rick Perry recently declared that they would not be accepting $555 million of the money that the U.S. federal government offered through its stimulus package. Specifically, Gov. Perry joins several other state executives in fighting the changes that would need to be made to state unemployment laws if the stimulus money was accepted. So, the New york state legislature is now looking for some other ways to improve the status of the coffers in Austin. of the suggestions being proposed in New york is the repeal of the state's Blue Laws, which ban the sale of hard liquor on Sundays & restrict the acquisition of beer & wine until after midday on that day. The query is -- would this alter lead to more money for New york government?

New york is not alone in reconsidering its alcohol laws for the purpose of gaining desperately-needed revenue. Other states are also thinking about opening the doors of its liquor stores on Sundays or making wine available in more locations, such as grocery stores. With all indications showing that alcohol consumption rises in the work of hard economic times, perhaps they are onto something.

Opponents of the alter think that sales of alcohol won't increase, but basically be spread over seven days in lieu of six. &, owner of Spec's Liquor Warehouse has concern for the individuals who work for him. They says, "We don't require to necessarily work another day. It is not lovely for my employees. They need a day off." Long gone are the days in which all retail was closed on Sundays to permit for a time of rest & reconnection with relatives. Will liquor stores soon join with the growing trend?
