Start off stretching out the neck. The stretches should be calm and slow. Stop when you feel any ache. By pushing through the pain you will make the injury worse. Do basic stretches, left to right down and up and move your shoulders around. Move your shoulders around also. Just remember that it is crucial to do this slowly and calmly. Make sure to stretch it few times a day for few minutes.

The area of pain should get a massage. You want to get the blood flowing easier, this means that the massage similar to the stretches should be light.
